PARENT INFORMATION Head Start helps
empower parents to connect with agencies to see that their family’s needs are
met. Then parents are encouraged to volunteer and get involved in their
children’s lives. If you know of other helpful sights, please email the web builder. Thanks! How to
Enroll Your Child in Head Start This is the legal
document that a parent needs to fill out if their child will be staying with
another person. The POA can enroll a
child in Head Start, take the child to the doctor, etc. In fact, except for enrolling a child in
public schools, adoption and consent for marriage, this covers most legal
situations. The parent can revoke the
POA at any time. Information each
parent is given when they enroll their child into Head Start Licensing

Follow-Up on IEP Process: This one page handout will help you understand the
process that your child goes through when trying to receive disability
services. We adapted it from the MO
Dept. of Elem. & Secondary Education’s disabilities information, with the
help from MPACT and an EMAA parent. Procedural Safeguards: Click here for a copy of your rights and protections if your child has or is trying to obtain an IEP. The school will give you a copy of these, or you can obtain a copy here. Ask your Family Advocate to explain this to you if you want more information.
